Default generation next

has anyone had the chance to check out the new civics in person? my bf and i did today, and i must say, i went home kinda depressed. the wheels are five lugs now, instead of four. the engine bay looks a lot smaller (didn't know that was possible on a civic), the windshield is huge, the wipers both rotate from the edges, instead of the traditional one rotating on the edge, and one in the middle (hope that makes sense). the choice of exterior colors is bland. the grill looks horrible, the badges are gigantic. we were wondering if honda is trying to weed out the tuner scene by making civics like this. i've always thought the last few generations had a sporty look to them, the new generation looks like something my grandma would drive. *sigh*

i thought they would be kinda cool from the pics i'd seen before the cars were distributed to dealers. i think honda made a bad choice in design. i'm curious to know what other people think once they get to see one in person.

I don't know about the sedans or what not, but all the pics I've seen for the Si look totally bad ***...I'm waiting around for the new Si's to get here so I can go test drive one...I know I can't get it, but I still got to drive one...So basically my opinion is: The Si's kick ***...the coupes look good, and the sedans, well, I've never like sedans anyways...

didn't get to see an Si today. just a bunch of lx and ex coupes. here's what's sad. when we pulled up, the civics had just been brought off the truck and were parked behind other cars on the lot. all we saw were the backs, and we both thought they were accord coupes.

I did. I did a driveby in the dealer's praking lot earlier this week. I agree about the paint colors, barf. The taillights are pretty ugly. I think they look okay from the front though. I have to say that they don't look like Civics to me. I saw both the coupe and the sedan here in Rochester. Based on looks I am not too impressed but I haven't test driven one yet.

Oh and I get what you mean about the wipers

You're not the only one. I've seen the sedan/coupe in person, and got to drive the sedan. Not that special from the outside, they really look like every other car on the road these days, to tell you the truth. The Si is probably much different, but I have yet to see one in person. The sedan was a smooth ride, but I like the cockpit and setup of my 00 EX much better. The new dashboard/windshield setup is huge, it's like you're looking across a football field to see the car in front of you. However, the motor was smooth and powerful through all the gears, and handling was outstanding.

They don't look as nice the 96-00 (6th generation, right?) in my opinion.

i agree with you about them not looking like civics anymore. it's like they're a whole bunch of other cars mashed into one. i'd like to drive one though, just out of curiousity.

yeah, i thought the dash looked a tad big.

i personally think the 6th gen is the best looking civic. so original, so sleek. ahhhhh.

I saw the EX sedan in person, and I absolutely love it.
I prefer the sedan over the coupe.
I want the EX sedan so freakin bad..
I'm tired of driving past the dealership and seeing them,
but thats the only way I can get to work.
