Good beginners drift car

okay, so i'm starting to look at another car since one car isn't cutting it between me and my girl. so tell me, what would be a good car to start off to learn about drifting? obviously it has to be rear wheel drive. i'm hearing like a 240sx or something. but give me your ideas, AND WITHIN A REASONABLE PRICE!!!! not like 350z's or skylines or anything like that. lets try and keep the price range under 6k k? thanks

cars, pix and enignes.....anything goes guys/gals.

240 is your best and cheapest/reliable bet.

you can get one for 5k and up for one in decent condition. the only thing is that the cheaper/older ones dont make a lot of power so you wont be doing any real drifting.

you'll need to drop in a redtop (SRDET20) into it, which costs about $3,000 + upgrading the downpipe and exhaust. so its going to cost you some money.

btw, drifting is not for the weekend warrior. it's basically causing your car to break loose with mad throttle.

cars that oversteer are just downright scary.

one more thing.

240s are damm near impossible to work on yourself drivetrain wise, so youre going to have to shell out some additional cash for labor.

but once you get a redtop in it, you'll be driving sideways for miles.

I would just get a 240 coupe/hatchback. My friend is currently selling his 95 stock 240 for 4K. but we live in wisconsin. Anyways 240s are great cars to start out with, especially for drifting. Alot of aftermarket support also. It sucks how sr20 swaps now days are so expensive after the drifting scene arrived. TIRES TIRES TIRES is another thing. Well good luck with what ever you choose and let us know how it goes.

ok so i'm seeing that 240sx is cool.

what about miatas or rx-7? just out of curiousity.

RE: Good beginners drift car

As far as I know people are happy with miatas, but rx's are high maintenance things that consume lots of gas, too...
