Default Good news: Oil leak in Gulf stopped -- at least for now

NYT reports that the oil leak has been at least temporarily stopped. This may be long term if the pressure holds on the cap.

Yeah, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg with respect to damage done.

all those coastal communities lost so much money, yet bp will try to get out of it. i say make em pay for it all, and give the hotels thousands to make up for lost wages. its not right that they have to suffer due to BP's negligence

I know its BP's fault that this started leaking, but this was going on for 87 days and we did next to nothing to solve this problem. All we did was point our fingers at them demanding they fix it, while the whole disaster was little more than a blurb on our news networks, if you ask me half the reason there's so much damage from this is our fault.

BP didnt want anybody to help them... They THOUGHT they had it under control. But instead they broke history w/ the biggest oil spill ever and killed, damaged many animals, beaches, etc.
So sad...

The well cap is still holding and the recent concern about hydrocarbon seepage is apparently unfounded. I guess there is now plenty of time to play the blame game and, more important, to begin a serious long term clean up effort.

BP should have been told to GTFO and the government should have blasted a nuke down the well like they do it in russia.

Might the disease have been better than this cure?
