Goodbye STi...hello SRT-8!

Sold my STi earlier this week, went down to the local Jeep dealer and picked up an 06 Grand Cherokee SRT-8! Im SO excited right now. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and 13 flat 1/4 mile stock. I picked it up out the door for $41,575 its got 17 miles on it and I LOVE IT!!! I wanted a black one but this one the price was right its an 06 and it still had the plastic wrap on everything. (late delievery)

For those that dont know much about this vehicle its got the 6.1 SRT Hemi with a 5speed autostick trans (AMG 5 speed) and Mercedes 4matic AWD, brembo brakes, 20in forged wheels.

Here are a few pics:

I woulda kept the STi. That things gotta drink gas like its water. Can the Grand Cherokees go off roading or are they jus one of those SUVs you look at?

my STi wasnt getting the best mileage either, with just under 400whp it was hardly a daily driver. This thing should get around 15mpg mixed driving. I live on Cape Cod which is essentially a big island. I take my Civic whenever i go off cape to boston. Im going to be switching this thing up to side exit exhaust for when the trailer package is finally avaliable.

I bought a WRX over an SRT4 in the fall of 03 because I thought of New England winters, we had one bad winter the past 3 years, mostly rain. I sold the WRX bought an STi at an incredible price, got the SRT4 and now i realized that i just need something thats good in the rain as well as the dry. and this is PERFECT.

My SRT4 is my track car (she's off the road as of this past Friday), the Civic is the commuter and now this thing is my weekend toy. Ill take it up to NH this winter once i can find a set of snow tires/wheels. If i wanted an off road SUV i would have bought a Grand Cherokee Limited or a Wrangler, i wanted this for the functionality, the uniqueness and its Cayenne Turbo performance (better actually) at half price :D

40 thousand dollars well spent. Sure I could have bought a GT500 or any other car for around 40k, but this, this appealed to me more than any vehicle for 40 thousand. Ever since i drove one of these things around the track at Limerock in CT I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE ONE.

However If i dont settle down with a wife and kids in the next couple years, ill probably be trading this in for a Challenger. ;)

well i didnt get a bike... I cant really throw skis on a bike and ride it up to the mountains in the middle of a snow storm. This thing I can take on winter trips, camping, i cant take it on the beach, and at the same time i can scream past pretty much any car I come across.

This was the best choice for me and it doesnt really matter if others like it or not. Its a DAMN fun SUV and Ill enjoy it til the day I get rid of it :D

Maybe you would have gotten a Bike, but i needed a bigger vehicle.

it was either this or an S4 Avant...and ive never been a huge Audi fan.

right now im juggling being a Sheriffs Officer working the Undercover Task force in Barnstable County here in MA and commuting to Boston trying to run the security for 2 of Bostons premier nightclubs owned by Celtics Paul Pierce. The company is called "Alley Entertainment" and the main club im running right now is called The Big Easy Bar. www.bigeasyboston.com

Its a lot of work, I have an assistant to run the other club called "The Alley Cat Lounge". Being single and having very little bills allows me to buy stupid sh t like this. Im in no rush to grow up ;)

if anyone has a chance to drive one of the SRT8s DO IT. I have driven every car in the SRT lineup and the SRT8s are VERY special vehicles and for the money your spending its a realtive bargain.

I remember when i first drove an 03 SRT4, i redlined it in 2nd shifted out at like 68 mph and powershifted into 3rd on the highway. The first 2 words after "holy sh t" to come out of my mouth were "mini-viper" lol :D
