CHULA VISTA – Chula Vista police have released more information on the description of the car used by a gunman who shot and killed a teenager on state Route 54 last month.

Jose Anthony Roman Jr., 17, of National City, died at a hospital after being shot in the chest by a passenger riding in a gray or silver Hyundai Accent, police have said.

The lowered car had several distinctive features, including a border of rivets around the two back passenger windows, a black hood, black rear spoiler and racing rims.

It also had racing-style stickers along the bottom of the side panels.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Oct. 12, three to four males in the Hyundai drew alongside the Honda Civic that Roman was in. Those in the Hyundai tried to get the Civic driver to race, then they exchanged derogatory gestures before the gunman fired, police spokesman Bernard Gonzales said.

After Roman was wounded, his driver stopped on the highway. Roman was airlifted to a hospital, where he died a few hours later. He was a student at Palomar High School in Chula Vista.

Thas pretty sad,he probabaly had a s/c tibby engine in it and jus really ate hondas..so sad!

I'll still throw the one fingered salute at any asshole that wants to race on a public street. Now though I'll be prepared to duck and drive off really fast...
