I am not really sure, but the D in D16Y8 does not mean DOHC. Because the d-series are all SOHC.

MARTY, chime in here.

letter = series
number = liters

H22
H = H series
22 = 2.2

JDM engines end in a letter like H22A while others end with a number like H22A4 = a base prelude engine, H22A2 = a type s higher compression engine.

K24
K = series
24 = 2.4
K24A = JDM Accord engine
K24A4 = USDM Accord engine with 166hp and 160tq
K24A2 = USDM TSX engine with 205hp and 166tq

when i put in there D i didnt mean D series (i forgot about those) i mean like in nissan RB26DETT. D stands for DOHC and E stands for electronicfuel injection. so the letters are just for the series?

There are DOHC D-series? When did they make those, and where?

BTW, Thanks Marty. I knew that you would know.

You're thinking Nissan. Nissan and Honda are two completely different motor companies.
Read this.

I know wikipedia isn't always right, but there's a few listed there, mainly foreign markets (UK/Australia).
