...fanbois...

GTR is really nothing more than an overglorified, overpriced nissan. Buying one is a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

Not a fanboi, just an enthusiast, no matter how much people hate it, it does what it was designed for. If you're going the technical route, isn't buying any sort of performance/luxury car a waste of money when you can buy a corolla or use public transportation?

I'm not a fanboi either... I had just never seen one in person before and when I saw one for the first time and it was flying by us at 100mph, it was a pretty cool first glimpse of one, especially since they're a semi-rare car to see.

It's a waste of money when you realize there are many better options for the same price or lower.

NO THANKS!

^ very true, but if you're going to talk money, i'm pretty sure the GTR's main audience and consumers aren't too worried about crunching numbers. They most likely have other things to worry about, like "will these gucci shoes go with this armoni suit?" In all reality, you can't expect maintaince to be cheap on a high performance vehicle, regardless whether or not it's a nissan. Most owners and stories i've seen about the car usually own ferrari's and mercedes, which are not necessarily what you would call 'cheap'.

They've been marketing this thing as an "affordable supercar" since it's debut. IMO, there is nothing "affordable" about $120 ATF..

I've heard the "if you can afford the car, you can afford the maintenance" arguement far too many times. It's simply not true across the board. Yes, the majority of people buying one have the money to cover such things, but the guys who've bought one as their life's sole large investment toy are gettin' f'd in the A.

Check out the Maintenance schedule and costs on a z06. IIRC, it's something like $5k in the first 5 years, which is more than fair for what you get, imo

Well, for the people that save up as their solve investment, it's really their fault.

Say I had 50,000 dollars to kick around, and i didn't have that much in savings. I could go out and buy a really nice 50,000 dollar car, OR i could buy a 25-30k car and have money for maintenance. I'm not relating this to the GTR, it's just common sense not to put all your apples in one bag. I don't feel bad for the people that can't afford the car, but bought it anyway, just like i don't feel bad for the people that bought a house years ago they couldn't afford from the start, but yet, they found the 'need' to buy it anyway. Now they're screwed.

I'd definitely spend my money elsewhere for the cost of the GTR, but for the price there's nothing that comes remotely close to it's performance specs. Kind of a throwback to classic sports cars...maintenance is the cost of ownership. My gf had a Esprit turbo that was hell on the wallet, but she loved it regardless.
