late night discovery.
2000 grit sandpaper + rubbing compound + car wax = mostly scratch free Ipod.
So my 30gig ipod was pretty scratched up from over 2 years of abuse, and so I decided to run a little experiment to see if it would actually work. I just spent about 30 minutes rubbing out the scratches on the front and back of the ipod with the sand paper and then buffing it a bit with the rubbing conpound. It works pretty well, I had to use a little bit of wax to get rid of the dullness though. I don't recommend that EVERYONE try this, but I did it just because I knew I didn't really have much to lose if it didn't work. Insomnia sparks the creativity and ambition in me sometimes. |

RE: late night discovery.
It's not exactly perfect, but it's a lot better than it was. The finish on mine was kinda dull before I sanded it so...
I'll post pics in a bit. I don't have any before shots, but you'll get the general idea. There's just one sort of gnarly scratch I can't get rid of though....Oh well. It's still better.:) |
