Motors in Lancer same as EVO?

Does anyone know if the motor in a Lancer is the same as its twin (evil) brother the Evo? I know its not turbo'd or AWD...... but there is one here pretty cheap and I am lookin into it. You guys are the most knowledgeable... so I thought I would throw it out there and let you tear my question apart.

What kinda motor is in it? the 4g64? if so... i may buy me a lancer. Its a Rally Ed. BTW.

no it is not the 4g64, it is a 1.8. I cant remember what the engine id number is but from what I understand it is like a de-stroked 4g63

do not get a regular lancer - they are slow as balls, look like **** with their oversized body on tiny wheels and I assume are highly unreliable (mitsu quality FTL)

Pretty much the only thing the Lancer and the Evo have in common are the dash board and the trunk. Everything else is pretty much a different car.

We were looking at one for my girl and she test drove it and got back just laughing about how slow it was. She normal drives a stock 93 Si and doesnt EVER hit VTEC in it and she thought the lancer was slow, so you can imagine.
