I would take the job but right now i'm working 72-96 hours a week. 24 hours on 24 hours off as a military fire fighter anything sounds better to me right now.

Thanks for all the help guys. It really helps to be able to get some truly impartial opinions.
- difficult decision, personally I will not work more than 50hrs/week, you would be working 90+ with the commute, you could rent a room closer, gas money would pay for that - what about benefits? - money vs time vs a job I like, I talk to my parents when I have a difficult decision, man that is some serious$$$$$$, but can you really leave your brand new 50" flat screen???? hahahaha
I would take the job. Make money while you can. So what, if you cant take it after a while, look for another job ,or like mentioned above, ways to make it easier like renting closer etc. Make a list of where you'll be 1 year down the road from now, taking the job and not taking the job. Be honest with yourself. When you tally all the good vs all the bad on both sides of the coin, the answer will jump out at you.
MAKE MONEY WHILE YOU CAN!!!! oh yeah and MAKE MONEY WHILE YOU CAN!!!!
BTW, been there and done that exact scenario, living in CT and driving to New Jersey for 2.5 hours one way if traffic behaved. Also, I've worked 12 on 12 off with NO breaks for 1.5 years straight at a satellite tracking station. All I had to show for it was a HUGE pile of $$$$. I'd do it again in a second if I had to,.
Evaluate your personal situation and decide. Leanining one way or the other , Do IT !!!

I personally woudl take the job if you could. Drving 2 hours isnt the gratest but all the cash sure is, just rember you dont have to keep the job forever. Taqke the job and see how it is if its realy that bad start looking for a new job.
If you can move closer that will help the travel distance. Im sorry but im a cash man and would do just about anything gfor the correct price, you will have plenty of time to sleep when your dead.

I say take it, its somewhat of a good living and your making twice as much. But who said life was easy and they were just gonna give you that job 2 minutes from your house? Comon now, there is always a catch. You just have to realize it. Life is always going to come with better things, with a harder way to get to it. Take the oppertunity
I've had MUCH LONGER commutes (read 4 hours one way) for much less money. Just move closer, make some cash till you find something with less hours, but comparable pay and take that. 70 hours per week for a year or two isn't bad
Are you sure about those hours? that seems a bit hight for me, but if they are flexible, then I say take the job, and move closer! the biggest thing on the bad list is that it is 2 hours away, and you can remedy that by moving. Also you dont have to do it for a long time, just until you find an equal paying job that you would like more.
