Default photo editor

Hey guys, I want to edit a photo of my car for my signature. You know use different effects and what not. Is there a free program to use to do this with anyone know of?

Can you do this with photobucket or is that just to store albums of pics?

Ya gimp looks good but i'm weary about bugs... I'm going to try the paint.net one cause that serif one prolly has a one day experation or something I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the help

I've never had a single problem with gimp other than getting used to the (similar, but largely different) interface. People say it's "just like" photoshop, but with a few exception i haven't fround that to be true at all. It's close enough tho and works really well.

If you want a pro photo editor that is also free, try PhotoFiltre. It is as good as Adobe Photoshop and has a lot of plugins. Did I mention it was free?

Pixia is free, but its more for drawing then hardcore photo-chopping.

XnView is a FREE basic photo editor with an "Explorer" type interface. If you do not need all the bells and whistles and want a photo editor that is easy to use and understand give this a try.

Thanks for all the info guys. I ended up using Paint.net, it was pretty easy to use without needinga tutorial, but didn't have as many features and effects as I would of liked... I really wanted to do some crazy editing and effects to my sig image, but as you can see mine is pretty basic :P
