Should I haggle for this Civic?
Alright guys (and girls) I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy this car. It's a 99 Civic LX with 101,xxx miles. The NADA is $6,600, Kelley is $5,900. They are asking $6,900 for the car. I've been to check it out twice now and today asked what their bottom price is and they said $6,000. According to them no one else has shown any interest in the car outside a couple phone calls. So it's not like they are getting offers all over the board. I like the people, I trust them, but I want to get the best deal I can. I decided before they even gave me the price that $6,000 is the most I'd pay for the car. Should I try to haggle them down some or just pay it?
I guess I'll look tomorrow for some of comparable quality for better prices and see what I think. My family knows these people and they are really nice so I just don't want to come off like a jerk but of course we all want the best deal we can get.

I definitely agree. These people are not friends of the family, just people my family happens to know. I got the ad from a magazine, called them up and went to check it out...turns out his parents know my parents. In fact one of the reasons I'm buying from them instead of someone else is because I trust them completely.

I'd offer $5500.

Do they need the money or are they just looking to get rid of the car? If they were that good of friends they would sell it to you for less, unless they need the money. $ 5500.00 is a fair price.
idk $5.5k is the absolute most I'd pay for that car. Yesterday I went to check out a '98 volvo 850 in mint condition with 60k miles for $4k. if i were you, I'd keep looking - you should find a better deal
