Default SRS light question

I can't post to the DIY section yet but was wondering if anyone could help me with this. My SRS light continues to light up even though there is nothing wrong with the system. Is there any way to disconnect this light without killing the others or is there a way to get it temporarily disabled to get the car registered. It's a 1997 civic ex.
Any help is appreciated.

Here's a cheap fix for getting it safety checked:

It happened to me once when I purchased a car, and all I did was take the panel apart and put a nice clean piece of black electrical tape over the SRS light. I got it safety checked, and BAM, I was good to go!

take the cluster out of the dash (6 screws) and then just pop the bulb out the back.

It comes and goes. Sometimes if I adjust the steering wheel it will shut off for a few seconds.
