Umm ok...
My friend says it is illegal to coast a stick car. An officer will give you a ticket if you coast in Neutral like up to a stop sign or red light... i do it all the time, i told him it is legal. whos right? i couldnt find anything on google. has anyone else heard that coasting is illegal?
I have heard that coasting is illegal, but I think it only applies to downhills, like steep downgrades, and it was probably put in place for big rigs. They want you to keep it in gear in case your brakes fail. 50% of my daily driving is coasting. I just pop it out of gear and coast until I have to go again. I would love to see a cop prove or ticket someone for coasting.
i pop it from second and coast to a stop... they could tell bc my car sounds like a b-17 bomber from WWII, so when i coast (w/clutch) it goes dead silent. if i do engine braking it is loud too

there really shouldnt be any difference in sound between coasting in neutral, or coasting in gear with the clutch to the floor.

coasting in neutral and coasting in gear w/ the clutch to the floor make the same sound as each other
