Anymore I'm becoming indifferent to the idea of getting married. I don't really care anymore if it happens for me some day or not.
I think a wedding is a giant waste of money because you're too stressed about the day and everyone else gets to enjoy the free party but you (unless mommy and daddy are paying for it).
If I ever did get married, I think I want to elope. It's just cheaper that way.
I did however promise my mother that I wouldn't get my sleeve tattoo until I get married or until I'm 24. whichever comes first. At this rate though, it's looking like the tat's winning out.

Well there's also that whole "adultery" thing for those of you who have heard of the Holy Bible[8D]

Besides, some people follow other paths than the Christian one. I read the Bible in HS, and I also seem to remember mention of several people in it having concubines and whatnot. I have yet to read the Koran or the Torah, and my familiarity with Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and other faiths is a bit lacking as well. Doesn't the Christian Old Testament correlate pretty closely with the Jewish and Islamic versions, at least up to Abraham?
I guess the best reason I can think of would be because I like the idea of having a "normal" family life, with the kids and whatnot. I'd consider marriage if having kids, so they would have a more normal home. "Normal and happy" just seems so rare these days though. Mutal respect and affection seem even moreso.
mutual love, kids, additional financial stability, tax breaks...
and yes, the tax breaks are pretty substantial. for instance, if my wife and I weren't married, and filing single, she'd owe in excess of $4000 on taxes, and I'd get a $500 refund... filing married but separate, I get no refund, and she owes $3200... filing jointly we owe $2000....
seems like a winner to me...

I got married because I foundthe girl of my dreams,I'm selfish, and wanted to keep her all to myself. It had nothing to do with tax money or anything like that. Those who get married for money, strictly because they're having a kid, etc are usualy the ones who end up in divorce.
I guess when you have the right girl, you just know.
