wow, hondas only bad design
i did it! i found hondas one bad design. the tensioner on the timing belt on an H22 is a hydraulic, umm, solenoid? its got a little plunger that goes out and its held out by the oil behind it. it holds a heaping 1/4 OZ of oil, and if any leaks out, the timing belt goes limp. if it werent for the valve cover holding the belt down enough to keep it from skipping teeth, it could have screwed the hell out of the engine. bent valves suck. im replacing everything on that side of the motor, and all because something hit the rubber boot and put a tiny little pin hole in it. well, that was enough to let all the oil out of it and let the belt go slack. yeah. what a bunch of crap. oh well, im making a little money i guess, but it sucks that its that easy to kill it. and i feel bad for the guy whos car it is. its an older guy i work with, so im helping him out by doing this pretty cheap.
what a stupid piece of crap. i knew i didnt trust the Hs for a reason. do you know where to get a manual tensioner instead of that stupid thing? Honda wants 93 bucks for a new one.
