**noob thread** to fix or not to fix?

Hello all, hope I don't get flamed for this but I need some advice and I know very little about car mechanics. I have a 93 Civic EX and lately the spedometer has been cutting in and out, it is mostly out. This sometimes coincides with irregularities in the RPMs like it revving out of nowhere. The check engine light is on.

My question is this: What do you think would be more profitable, to fix this problem before selling it? or should I sell it in this condition?

thanks and excuse the noob talk, fixing it myself is out of the question.

Pull the CEL code using the jumper wire method. If you have code 17, check the VSS connector for damage and corrosion. Some people get a replacement plug from a junk yard and splice it in.

It's usually better to sell or trade your old car as it is than to spend money on repairs, unless it doesn't run at all due to a relatively minor problem. Then making a repair so it can start and drive will increase value considerably.
