I dont think it should turn on in the acc position, only when you turn it one more click to the on position.

well i just had a starting problem on my 96lx civic, and it turned out to be my positive battery cable was loose. so start with ez issues. is it turning over or not turning over. if its turning over then its prlly not ur cables but its worth checking anyways. then if its turning over but not startin, make sure you have spark, if spark and nothing it might very well be a fuel problem. have sumone smell your exhaust when its not startin, "idk how smart that is but i am country so ><" if smells like gas ur gettin fuel.
i agree with cpl though ur fuel pump shouldnt be turning on in the acc position. only in the run position. |
RE: 00 civic doesn't always start up
hahaha im sure my friends would be smart enough to sit back and sniff the gas...hey you're right, i meant the run position, right before starting...a couple times it hasn't come on

If its turning over but not starting, and then it starts after some time then the problem might be an overheating main relay. The main relays in Civics are knows to have bad solder joints. You can try and resolder the joints on the relay or buy a new relay. The fuel pump is not working, there can be two reason for this. The fuel pump is either not recieving any power or it is recieving power but not pumping. If the later is true, there is something wrong with the fuel pump. If the former is true, then the problem is electrical and I would supect the relay.

Check your fuel level when the problem occurs. My 99ex has a hard time starting sometimes when low of fuel. Especially if parked on a hill.
