Default 01 civic ex using too much oil?

So i have 2 hondas.one 94 and an 01. so my 94 is a whole separate issue if you wanna look up my thread and comment on that. Any how, my 01 is running fine and I change my oil every 3 months or 3000 mile (which ever comes first) My car is not leaking oil but it seems to need about 3/4 to a quart of oil a month. I'm sure this is not normal. any ideas what is causing my car to be using so much oil? should I add lucas oil stabilizer next time I change my oil? thanks for any advice.

burning oil can happen for many reasons... however (unless I am mistaken of course) all of them are linked to oil entering the combustion chamber. There are a number of ways and reasons this can happen, however the most common is due to failing valve seals. I would assume it was happening on the 94 over the 01 though as it is one of those things that kind of happens with age. The problems get worse from there and also hinge on other symptoms.

The first "fix" I would try is to replace one quart of Lucas (or another additive meant for motors burning oil) in lieu of one quart of oil on your next change. Also, use a better filter than Fram if that is what you are using. This could help lubricate the seals inside the crank case and slow the oil burning. From there, you could start replacing seals, and rebuild motors! hahaha... how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?

Note - I am NOT a civic expert, I just bought my first civic a few days ago... however, I am quite familiar with the inner workings or motors. My experience is in Bowtie's... however, life is about change, and so am I
