02 Civic 89,000 mi, rattling noise and extended warranty question
Hi,
new here. My 02 Civic w/ 89,000 mi has been making a rattling noise; made apt to take into dealer since every mechanic whose looked at it thinks it's an internal issue. Q: I have a long work commute and need to take the car tomorrow, what's the worst that can happen-the engine stalls? will it restart?? I know it will cause other damage, but no work no money. Also wondering if this is a common problem. Relatedly, I bought extended warranty through CNA national...I have not kept oil change receipts so I don't know if that'll be an issue (although I was told that if the oil hasn't been changed they can tell, which I do faithfully every 3000) If they don't approve my expenses is it true that I'll get my money back after 10 yrs or 100,000 mi? That's why I bought it...but I was also talking to a salesperson.

Just got back from the dealer. The extended warranty bought at the dealership though offered by CNA National covered $1376.93 (I had to pay 150 deductable and a few other things not covered). What they fixed under the warranty: A/C Compressor (they said it was the source of the rattling), Steering/Suspension-compliance bushings torn and rear sway bar bushing worn, passengerside rear window (was not working). I had to replace the rear sway bar links and vent shut valve (my Engine Malfunction Light had been on)...I hope this takes care of the mysterious sounds...have only driven it a few miles. Wondering if all this is typical wear and tear or if I should've invested in an American car for less price...only time will tell...seems that next I'll be replacing my timing belt, I think I'll wait til I hear it though...or at least 100,000 mi..
