Newbie here, 02 Civic LX auto. no mods one owner car 110k miles. Love the car. Hoping to get some assistance in solving a cruise control in-op issue. Basically the cruise control does not work.

Button on left side of dash does not light up. I checked the 4, 7, 10 fuses, I think. All are good. With dash button in even though not lit up the cruise light will come on on the dash when "set" button is pushed on steering wheel. Also and this is what I think is weird, ---When the main cruise switch on the left side is pushed in, even though it does not light up then trans will downshift and shoot the RPMs up. eventually it may shift up but it takes a while. With cruise button on dash (left) in off or out position trans always will work fine. Also for what its worth the interior lights do not light up when the door is opened. Pretty sure I checked the under hood fuses I read about on forums. I can however manually turn on the front map lights but dome will not work at all. I even unplugged and cleaned the cruse module under the hood, no coorosion noticeable and connections seems good. Any thoughts?

Kinda think that the three things described above, no dome lights, trans downshifting when main cruse switch is one and the steering controls working but not actuating the cruise are tied together.

Likely it's the multiplex control unit built into the underdash fuse box (the whole thing is replaced as a unit). The A/C is also likely going to be affected-- nothing will happen when you press the A/C button.

 

THanks for the info. My chimes dont work either. AC works great. I'll replace the part.

 

Update: I installed the new MCU ($240) and no dice. All symptoms and issues remain.

The cruise would be nice....any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
