04 civic check engine no tack intermittently no communication

04 civic 1.7 manual
Started with alternator slipping, snapped bolt on alternator clean off.
Theft light flashing, no communication with computer.
Checked out at my mechanic shop with no luck then scanned at honda with the honda scan tool, they say bad ecu is tip of the iceburg($1000.00+), took it back to my mechanic and on drive theft stopped flashing, check engine light was turning off intermittently(not flashing) tack would come on whenever engine light shut off.(relay under glovebox clicking).

Bad relay?
Could car starter cause these problems?
Bad ECU????

NE help gr8tly appr.

Please do not double post as it is against the rules.

If it is a bad ECU then that is covered by a federal emissions warranty of 8 years or 80,000 miles and Honda has to replace it free of charge for you if you are under 80,000 miles.

sorry about that I didn't know,

Do you know if that applies to Canada?

Look for fundamental electrical problems like the battery connections and all ground wires. The computers will go haywire when they don't get steady power. I don't know if the theft light is tied into the ECU or not. Can you link to the ECU when the tach is working and the CEL is out?

only works for a second so no communication checked fuses wires grounds
