Another dumb question. D16y7 is ODB2. How does that work with z6 head?? I guess a better way to ask is what is the difference from obd1 to obd2??

I'm pretty sure you can get everything you need on Ebay to do a mini-me swap. I've seen some nice Z6 heads with aftermarket cam shafts and other stuff on Ebay. I heard you also need to change the ECU and add on the Vtec spool. Is it really necessary to change the throttle body also? thats like a couple hundred more dollars than i expected...

flipping- obd1,obd2 is the computer system, 88-91 is obd0, 92-95 is obd1, 96-up is obd2
all d" series motors have same bolt patterns.

bluebirdcivic- no its not required for the d16z6 throttle body, its a suggestion to have more power.

for a minime swap to work you are required to have-

complete vtec head(d15b,d15z1,d16z6,d16y8)
the distributor from same head you are using
the ecu obd1-p28,p30 obd2-p2p,pj2
you will also need to run a few wires fom the vtec head to the new ecu.
obd1 you only need to run pin a4 and d6, obd2 requires a knock sensor

i wouldnt boost it, you will be runing to high of a compression already to boost, upgrade the internals first and buy a set of low compression pistons, and arp head studs, and a thick head gasket to help lower compression.

yes when you do a mini me swap it rasies the compression, its because of the pistons,
a non vtec motor has higher compression pistons than a vtec motor, but the vtec motor makes up for it because when vtec engages it dumps more air into the cylinders raising the compression. thats why a minime has more power than a full vtec motor.
