1990 civic is there supposed to be a plate between the engine and trans?

I bought a 1990 civic dx a few months ago and had to rebuild the transmission due to a bad input bearing. I noticed when i seperated the engine from the transmission there was no stiffening plate between the two. What i am talking about is a thin sheet metal plate that fits between the transmission bellhousing and the engin that the bellhousing bolts pass through. Im ready to reinstall the transmission but i personally have never seen an engine that didnt have one. Im about have concerned if this is the reason the input shaft bearing went south as i can tell the clutch has been recently replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Manual transmission definitely does not have anything like that. The bell housing fits directly to the engine block (I haven't seen a car that wasn't like that). There is a little cover plate that bolts on the bottom but it does not go between the two. Make sure you have both alignment cylinders in place, there is one in the front and one in the back.
