1990 DX stock to B16Y7 Swap?? HELP
HEY! i recently purchased a 1990 Honda Civic DX for $500. Its current stock engine has 280,000KM on it. its burns oil, tranny has something wrong with it. It shifts ok but makes a grinding noise on deceleration. Not sure exact problem is and the CV boot torn.
My main question is, the guy i bought it off of, also gave me with it, a D16Y7 engine with 113,000KM on it. its an extremely clean engine. for $500 i thought this would be a steal-of-a-deal and a great spring project to get on the road for summer for some road trips (i currently drive a gas guzzling truck, thats why i bought the civic). i was wondering if the engine swap was possible, going from a stock 1990 DX engine (is a 5 spd manual tranny btw) to the D16Y7? would i need a new tranny for it? would i need to make any customizations to make it fit? or any aftermarket parts to make it work? and would i be better off replacing the torn CV boot? or just replacing the whole axel? any feed back at ALL will help soo much. THANKS! kurtis.
