94 civic heat problems
Hey guys, Ive got a 94 Ex coupe w/ a d15b2 edm swap from a crx.
Its got the crx bottom end w/ a converted "mini me" swap sohc vtec head.
I'm getting some heat from the heater but nothing near what it should be, the temp gauge doesnt even go up to the mid range on the dash. (its also got another temp gauge that is aftermarket that someone put in that has NEVER worked since I got the car) After some work and looking it over I figure the T-stat is most likely bad and needs replaced. (Ive found the cable to be broken on the heater control and have manually set the valve in the engine bay to its open position to flow coolant through the heater core)
My question is in my manual for the crx bottom end it shows the tstat in a location lower on the block and the tstat location on the top end is the same as it'd been originally on my 94 sohc vtec... can this car be running two tstats for some odd reason?
I'm not looking to tear the entire thing apart to figure out the tstats but think I'll have to do so. any guesses?
thanks.

All the D series engines have the thermostat at the lower hose. There is nothing inside the fitting on the head that connects to the upper radiator hose.
Before taking anything apart, make sure the system is completely full. The radiator must be full to the very top when you take the cap off. If the coolant is low you will get inconsistent heat from the heater.

system was originally low on coolant. I've recently checked it and re topped it off, so its full as of now but its still not giving me much heat. (I mean barely clears the windshield dosnt heat the cab) I'll have to check the tstat then, I thought it was in the bottom heater line but wasnt positive bc the manual for the 94 sohc said it was up higher... perhaps I just misread it. Thanks for the input guys, I'll be doing more on it when the weather clears up. (its raining here for the next day or so.)
