1995 hood totally locked. It does not open.
I replaced radiator support. Installed latch, bumper, hood, etc.
Then I closed the hood. Now I can not open the hood it is totally jammed packed. hood opener does not do anything. Any trick to open the hood. Thanks. |
u can lay down under car and look up under bumper and you will see where the cable attaches, and manually open hood latch
unbolt the bumper to you can get your hands behind it, |
Try pushing down on the hood while someone pulls the latch for you. Don't pull too hard on the latch handle, it'll just break.

No, as suggested did not work.
Unbold the bumper is not the easy task. as bumber nuts and bolds are under the hood. Looks like I might have unattached cable from the latch under the hood. Any other suggestions. Thanks. |

I just tried this on mine, here is what I did, there are 2 spring systems on the hood latch, one for the cable for the main latch and the other is for the secondary latch which you have to open manualy. so what I did was, laid on the ground and stuck my had up to the latch, knowing where the springs are helps so i attached a picture. I just simply pushed against the spring that releases the striker. now i said simply but really I had to push really hard to get it to release.Attachment 10320 If you cant push it out of the way, and you get frustrated with this stick some side cutters in there and cut the spring on the latch that will be the least harmful way to the car as a new latch is like $15

Thanks for all the suggestion. Taking out bumper helped a lot. I think I did not gave enough tension to wire that cause less pull.
Once I open the bumper I can see that I can pull latch wire easily. Opening bumper was tricky. I end up using thin plier and unscrew the bumper nuts one thread at time. Finally I tied latch wire to radiator frame and now everything is fine. |
How to fix horn
My horn was working but while fixing other stuff I might have disturb the wiring.
In my honda civic 1995 how to check if the horn is in healthy condition. Thanks. :) |
The fuse may have blown. The brake lights are on the same fuse so test them too. Fuse is in the box under the hood near the battery.
