The rear left door on my 1997 Civic DX opens from the inside but not from the outside. I took off the panel to take a look and it appears that a little 3-4 inch rod that connects the inside of the exterior door handle to the latch mechanism is missing. I can't find it anywhere inside the door. I was only able to figure out what was wrong with it after I took the panel off the other door to have a look.

Does anyone know what this part is called or where online I could order one? I have looked at just buying a new door handle, but none of them seem to come with this part.

If you look at the attached picture from the other door that has the part, the part I need is the short vertical rod that is attached to the back of the door handle with a green piece.
