2001 Civic DX speed sending unit location?

What is the 2001 Civic DX speed sending unit location? This is 5-speed manual transmission. There is some sensor that sits on the top and middle of the transmission facing down, it looks OK but speedo shows nothing. What are the trouble shooting steps to figure out if the sending unit is faulty or the gage or wiring?

Thanks in advance!

First check the voltage at the sending unit. If you have access to a lift, put the car on the lift and run the car and check the voltage at the sending unit. The sending unit should be located on the output shaft of the trans and i would think it would be the only sensor/wires coming out of the trans. If the sending unit is showing voltage and change in voltage as the speed of the wheels is changing then the sending unit is fine. After that you would want to see if the guage cluster is getting a signal from the sending unit. FOr that you will need wiring diagrams and such which i might be able to get for you later.
