2001 Civic Issues!!!!

1 Attachment(s)
Hey there,
Thanks in advance for any help.
I have a 2001 Civic EX I recently did a JDM engine swap on. I've had it running for a few weeks and its been fine for the most part. Today I could not get the shifter to go out of park, had to use the bypass. Assumed it was the brake switch, but the lights come on fine. Also checked fuse 10 under the dash. it was fine as well.

THEN when I go drive it, it will not shift until 4K, then kinda slams into gear. No slipping and the fluid is fine. So to go anywhere I have to let it rev to 4K, then lift off the throttle, then it'll slam into gear.

Also, when I installed the engine, I have ONE connector that has no home, does anyone with an 01 know where this connector goes? See Pic Below

Thanks again
Steve

You should hear a click from the locking solenoid at the shift handle when you press/release the brake in park with the key on.

Is your new engine VTEC? That plug is in the area where the VTEC solenoid would be.

It sounds like the AT is shifting late like it it is programmed to do when you floor the gas, but doing it all the time. Maybe the TPS is bad? Are any codes set?

Thanks for your reply. Actually I solved the transmission issue. The connectors had moisture in them, I unhooked all of them, sprayed with WD-40 and the shifter went from park, and she shifts like new. after reading 2000 posts on the net, saying the trans was the issue, it for once thank god was not.

The Vtec solenoid is hook up, I cannot find where this thing goes to save my life. The engine only goes to 4000 rpm without surging ( sounds like a rev limiter ) So maybe it is something in the Vtec System. I just need to find another 2001 and look at it.

She is at least drivable, on a road trip it got 33 MPG combined so its doing good!!

Thanks man, Ill update if I ever find the issue with the connector.
