2002 Civic bad O2 sensor?

Hi all, got a question about my 2002 Civic and a problem it's throwing up. After doing some reading through solved problems, I'm going to guess it could be the O2 sensor, but here's what it's doing, if anyone would like to give a second opinion.

When it starts up, it sometimes has a problem with the engine almost cutting out. I'll drive it and the power will cut out, the revs will drop to idling levels and it will feel like it is about to stall (I'm sure it would stall if it wasn't an auto). Holding the gas pedal steady for a few seconds will usually result in it picking back up. It will do this a few times and then drive fine. This usually happens when it gets started up for the first time that day, but not exclusively.

Today was even worse. It did the above, but the power didn't come back as usual. When pulling off onto a side street to get out of traffic, it felt like the power steering had gone out, and the brake pedal felt rock solid, like it does when the engine is switched off. The battery light came on, as did the oil pressure light. I turned the car off and then back on, and it seemed to drive just fine.

The check engine light came on yesterday, but so far I haven't been able to get anywhere to get the code read. Any advice?

In case it matters it's a 2002 as I've mentioned, 1.8L auto with 60,000 miles.
