2002 Civic Thermal Protector help.
Hey everyone I have a 2002 Civic and I am changing my thermal protector and I have a question. To make a long story short me and my friends were on a cross country trip in the middle of summer when my AC stopped working. I figured out it was the thermal protector. So what I did was just the end connectors off the thermal protector and I think the other end goes to the AC button in the car when it is pushed it tells the compressor to turn on. Is that correct? But i guess my real question is I want to fix it the right way I ordered the thermal protector but i lost the end that plugs into it. Does anyone know if I can order that connector end? I tried calling the dealer but the guy didn't know what I was talking about. Thank You!

Thermal protector is in series with either the clutch coil (if there's one big wire to compressor) or the pressure switch (if thermal protector has its own 2-wire plug with small wires.)

That's the plug for the whole compressor then. Two small wires are the protector and the fat wire goes to the clutch.

The part includes the plug for the compressor side. The plug on the car side is part of the whole harness. If you need that you could cut it out of a junked car and splice it into your car.

also did you change the shim for ac clutch? also this thermal protector has 3 wires 1 big fat and 1 medium and 1 small? i know medium and small wires connect to ac compressor how about the big fat long wire is this connect to fan driver side? |
if you are looking for the connector that join the thermo on comp to wire on rad support. they are the same on older civics , just reversed. gray one pin. I bypassed my thermo by using a male end from 96 civic brake fluid cap and gray one pin from same car.
