2003 Civic Engine Ligh
My check engine light came on and i had the code read and it says my O2 sensors need to be replaced. However I am going to do this myself and will not be able to for a few weeks. I have to get my emisisons tested tomorrow and was wondering if anybody new how i could turn it off for the time being. Also my Maint Req'd light is on. Im assuming in came on for scheduled maintenance because i just hit 75K miles. If im wrong please correct me.
Thanks,
Nicholas

If you clear the CEL codes from the ECU, they will reappear before the emissions test if the O2 sensors are actually bad. If you wish to pass the emissions test, you will have to fix the O2 sensor problem first.
As you said, the maintenance light is simply a friendly reminder for you to change the motor oil.

Whenever you have more than one code you need to clear them and see which one reoccurs first. After you clear the codes the CEL goes out, but a "not ready for emissions test" code is set for a while. They usually read that at the test site and of course you cannot pass with it showing. If your state does a sniffer test at the tailpipe there's no way to pass that with a bad primary oxygen sensor.
Yea my CEL came on first and was on for a while so and i had the codes read and they said it was my 02 sensors. Several months later my Maint Req'd light came on. So im going to purchase the sensors and change them myself. After i change them should the light go off on its own ? Or how do i get it to go off? Also im sure the Maint light came on because i just hit the 75k mile mark. How can i get that turned off??
