2003 civic strange vibration
Hi,
I have a 2003 civic, when sometime when I'm on the highway(60-65mph) and I apply the brake I feel a strong vibration. Not just in the steering wheel. One time I left my car at a valet parking and the guy said I had a problem with one of my wheel bearing. I didn't have time to jack up the car to take a look myself but I would like to have your idea on the problem. Is it the wheel bearing? The brake system? Or something else? Thank you. |
Could be both...

Ok...
Do you have any suggestion on how to identify if it's the bearing or the brake? |
A bearing would do it all the time not just when you apply the brake. Strong vibration when you apply the brakes is almost always because of one or more brake rotors being warped. They warp from overheating-- caused either by improper driving or having the brakes drag.

Thank for your help. I will change my brake disk and pad. I hope it will fix the problem.

I never had that prob with a wheel bearing. Mine always made a whining noise.
The prob your describing sounds like what mk378 is suggesting, the rotors being warped. |
you can't find a better deal on brakes and rotors.
