Default 2003 EX Exhaust/muffler problems!!! Please help!!

Hello all. Ill start by saying mechanically, im not the most inclined/intelligent, so ill try to be as specific as i can. I had my exhaust pipe break clean about 2 inches before the inlet to to muffler, i picked up the replacement pipe section cheap, and the rest of the exhaust system is still in great condition. After pulling my muffler off to replace the pipe, there is maybe a 1 inch section of the old pipe that i am having one hell of a time getting out. I cant replace the pipe until its out, and money is SUPER tight right now, so i cant afford a new muffler (which would be worlds easier, i know). Any and all suggestions on how to get this piece of pipe out of the inlet so i can repair my exhaust are welcome...please and thank you. (if pictures are needed, i will happily add them upon request, itll just take a day or 2 before i can get back under the car)

Desperate,
Mike

When a pipe breaks, everything nearby is usually rusted paper-thin, so it's futile to try to patch it up. It's a classic example of "false economy"; something else will fail soon.

A DIY mechanic would be best off to buy the whole muffler assembly and unbolt it at the flange and replace. If you want to patch things up look for an independent shop that can fabricate pipes and weld them on, which works much better than clamping. Often it is quite inexpensive.

With that said, parts stores have adapters in various diameters, you can probably find one that fits OVER the place that has pipe stuck inside.

yeah i think your underestimating just how cheap muffler shops actually are.probably less then 50 bucks for that job probably less if you have piping. and are you talking about the bolt flange being rusted ??? if so thats most likely seized and has to be replaced.
