Hi, I own a 2003 Honda Civic and as of recently it has started to make a high pitch squeal that seems to be originating from the inside of the passenger side dash when ever the car hits speeds over 80mph. It is not something that is consistent the squeal comes and goes so its is very difficult to figure out what it is. There is also a electrical smell when the squeals happen..the sound is very loud and it is clear that there is an issue. Has anyone else heard of this..I read a post from Jan with a person who had the same issue but there was not response to the post. They had mentioned a windshield replacement which is something we have had done recently, not sure if this has any relevancy but thought I would just put it out there. Help Anyone??

 

If you just had the windshield replaced, maybe they didnt seal it right and wind is coming through. But if you smell something burning, id be worried and not drive the car until you figure out what that is

 

Thanks for the reply, I am very sure that it is not a wind issue the sound is very loud it is definitely coming from with in the dash, it sounds like it could be a belt...but what belt is located by the passenger side dash?? I think its an issue with 4th and 5th gear...even though its an automatic..just wanted an idea of what is it so i'll know what its going to cost me to fix it

 

You might need a balance or alignment

 

Automatics don't have a 5th gear
