2003 honda civic overheating problem
 

Hey I'm having some issues with my car overheating, it happens after I've been going highway speeds then pull off the highway and go slower the temp begins to climb.

I have replaced
-head gasket
-timing belt
-water pump
-thermostat
-temp gauge sensor
-fan switch
-fan relay

Really pretty stumped on this, any help would be appreciated.

Is the radiator staying full? Check it when cold before each trip. Check in the radiator itself not just the white plastic tank.

Do the fans come on? Turning on the A/C (if outside temperature is above 40) will force them on.

Does hot air come out of the heater? Usually the first sign of a bubble of air trapped in the top of the engine is that the heater will not work.

I was talking to a coworker today and he seems to think its a airlock in the cooling system, so we are going to try putting a air lift system on the cooling system and try that out

I also forgot to mention that I had the head all redone a milled and pressure tested before I put it back on

if the head was planed then im going to guess you have an air bubble trapped in the system.when mk asked if your heat stops working at a stand still is because if there is air in your system the water pump will function normally at speed then stop at idle from lack of pressure caused from a air pocket not allowing fluid through you need to burp the system. also if the head was not torqued in the proper fashion it can cause overheating. its also possible that you warped the engine block.

So I seemed to have gotten all the bubbles out of the cooling system, everything seems to be working good ill be sure to post in a couple days to let you guys know

if all the air is out and it overheats again in the future then your going to want to test the fluid to make sure the new head gaskit is working properly because if air keeps entering the system it could potentially be from the gaskit.
