2003 transmission issue

I recently put a new motor in my 03 civic LX, I put a stage 3 clutch in and new axle shafts. I went to drive it home and I got about 5-7 miles and heard a pop and then I had no drive at all from my transmission. I noticed that the passenger shaft had popped out about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. I got it home and put the shaft back in, checked the other side as well and I still have no movement. I was refraining from putting in more gear oil until I figured out what was wrong. Need some ideas on what to check? Does the transmission need oil in order for it to work? (for testing purposses) I'm lost and I don't really know what to check. Please help

Probably not a good idea to test and drive the car around with no transmission fluid.

Not much oil will come out when the shaft comes out, so just top it up again. Do not use heavy (80W / 90W) gear oil in Honda manuals. Make sure the shaft is all the way in and locked, which will take some force. If it comes out again try a new spring clip on the end.
