2004 civic ex wont stay running after cam angle sensor replacement
 

i'm working on my girlfriends bone stock 2004 civic ex a/t. i changed the timing belt and water pump on it. i went and test drove it after, ran fine so the timing was fine, but wouldn't rev past 3500 rpm and was throwing a code for the cam angle sensor, found out i had bent the pins in the sensor. tore it back apart and got the sensor swapped. it quit throwing the code but now it will start, run for a few seconds, sputter, then die. i have been scratching my head all day. does anyone have any ideas?

The cam angle sensor is only used to sync the fuel injectors to the valves, it should run fairly well without it. Won't rev past 3500 usually means the timing is off. Take the upper cover off and check the timing again. If the belt was not properly tensioned it could have skipped further.

i test drove it after i did the belt and it ran like normal up to 3500 and would act like it was hitting an electronic limiter. i drove it for about 10 minutes and tore it back apart to do that sensor. i didnt move any moving components to do the sensor. if the timing was off it should have given me problems right off the bat when i drove it, right?
