2006 Honda Civic Key stuck in ignition
I have a 2006 Civic LX and my key gets stuck in the ignition and it will not come out. The steering wheel is not stuck. The only way to get the key out is to unplug the battery. There are two switches on the shifter, the one on the left works, but I do not know if the one on the right is any good. The car stats and runs fine even with the key stuck. I have tried my other keys and the same thing happens to them. Does anyone have any other ideas of what to look for?

is the shifter properly engaged to P?
is the shifter properly engaged to P?
however this has happened to my pathfinder. I try to press the gear and put in between p and r (remember your gears do move a little bit before it locks out without the car in start) and try to move the keys and shake the steering wheel.

But however seems like you have a faulty . key interlock switch and key interlock solenoid. The ignition key cannot be removed from the ignition switch unless the shift lever is in the P position. When the shift lever is in any position other the P, a solenoid is activated, making it impossible for the key to be removed, until the shift lever is moved to the P position

Easy fix
This happened to me today at 2am; I was in my car drinking wine and listening to music lol don’t judge me. I almost freaked out thinking my key was stuck in the ignition and How was I going to get it out at this time of the morning. I contemplated leaving my key in the ignition, but that’s wayyyyyy to dangerous. I ran into this forum and everyones response was confusing lol....so I just tried some ****. I cranked my car again and put the gear in reverse. I also turned my steering wheel to ensure it wasn’t locked. Then I turned the car off in reverse and the key came right out. I put the key back in and turned it on. Shifted the gear back to park n turn the car off again and the key came right out. I’m assuming this is a gear shift or ignition issue. But if it happens again, atleast I can by pass it.
