87 civic hatchback died while driving
Hello, this is my first post!!
I have a 1987 Civic Hatchback; about two weeks ago I got it in a trade! As a maintenance measure I took it out for a drive so it would start the next time I drove it. Sadly, this little drive ended in me calling my wife to pick me up! About one and a half miles for home the car lost all power and coasted to a stop . As it slowed down i tried to crank it(its a stick)but i had no luck! The girl that had it before me had the stereo stolen weeks before and the remote power cable that went to the amp was just around in the back of the car!! Im not sure what the plan for troubleshooting this car is but i dont want to take it to a shop--- i think i can fix it!! it doent have an OBD test port (that i know of) so i NEED YOUR HELP) George North Carolina |
I found the problem
After thinking it was a firing issue and replacing wires, distributor cap, dry coil and the battery(which needed to happen), I found the real problem( I feel so stupid) it was the timing belt!! Should have been one of the first things I looked at..... Anyway, I plan to put it on in and hour or so. We'll see if this does the trick.
