89 Hatch Motor Swap!

hey i just got my 89 civic hatchback about a month ago. i have a d15b2 with headers. not much. im not to happy with the power and it smokes alot! im looking for a motor swap. i have plenty of sources, but not much money. i just want to know which motor i could generate some decent power (160-250hp) and will mount up to stock mounts, or is generally a easy swap. i will be doing the swap myself. if u have any leads or tips just let me know, also if u are selling a motor w/everything or know someone in the houston, tx. area let me know, please. THANK YOU!

well..if your looking for somthign with stock mounts...160 hp is a little out of your range....Dohc zc is about 130 hp and you can usually find them for under 500 bux. dirrect swap.

here..this will help you out so much...you don't even know.

RE: 89 Hatch Motor Swap!

okay thanks so much. iv decided to go with the d16a9 like u said. my stock tranny should mount up considering they are both d series. but what about the ecu? i should just be able to get the motor, intake and mount up my headers, distributor, etc. all the things i already have. right? im kinda new to the honda world so im lost right now. thx!

lol..i just did that swap...

here is another couple sites for you

http://fourthgenhatch.net/zc.html

Forum dedicated to the ZC (which is the d16a9)
www.thezcr.com

tranny will mount up just fine, ecu you can get a zc ecu, and integra ecu, or civic si ecu, intake works, header works, distributor you can get an integra or zc.

most of the stuff is what you already have

read up on those sites and youll be good..its a pretty strait forward swap.
