90 civic acceleration issues
So today I re-did my head gasket. Last one failed, was drinking water. After I installed the new headgasket, I started having an acceleration issue. When the car is cold, she takes off fine. Runs strong and hard < still smoke a bit >. But when warmed up, she doesn't want to accelerate strong in lower RPMs. She crawls from a dead stop. Then at about 5-10 mph she gets strong again and runs like a champ.
Any ideas? |
use a timing light, and jump the ecu service plug and set timing on distributor while its running,
|
Um, yeah, how do I do that? lol.
I've advanced and retarded the dizz. I can make it run better, but ti only turns on in one specific spot. To counter the lag, I'm riding ythe clutch out way more than I like to. |
moving the distributor without jump the service plug does nothing, ecu will override it.
hook up timing light and start car and check to see where the timing is, there is a mark on the crank pulley and on the timing cover that should line up each time the gun lights up. |
and while attempting to set the spark timing properly, if you find you have to turn the distributor all the way to one end that means the cam timing is off by a tooth on the timing belt.
