Default 92 civic. need serious help

alrite i havea 92 civic ex with around 170,000 miles and it ran fine up untill about a week ago when exiting of the freeway it died at the stop light. i noticed a lite knock at the top of each gear as well. it wouldnt stay running at idle and it quickly lost all power and knocked BAD i had oil in it and i had oil pressure i was thinking its a rod bearing or something. im new at working on imports and i was wondering what else it could be and i need to know if it can be fixed without pulling the motor and tearing it down

Check the cam timing. Timing belt may have skipped a tooth. If it has, put a new timing belt on.
