92 hatch smoking

Default 92 hatch smoking

my civic smokes only when braking and when at idle. When driving around its good. What can be the problem? oh, yeah the smoke smells also and is a white color.

make sure your brake lines aren't leaking or your master cylinder, sounds like brake fluid burning on the engine possibly.

To OP - it smells like what? And how did you manage to tell it smokes while braking and doesn't while not braking? Did you watch it from the curb? And how cold isi ti at your area now?

it smells like burning fuel, and when i start it up theres no smoke and then it gets worse and worse. Im thinking it might be the oxygen sensor. It pretty cold here like around 35-40s.

a few things
1. is the smoke coming out the tail pipe
2.is it smoking from the brakes
3.how many miles does it have
4. if the smoke is from the tail pipe what color is it

Sounds like running rich. Any CEL codes? How is your gas mileage?

yes the smoke comes out the tailpipe, its a blue/white color.
the engine has about 55k and the trasmission 222k
and yeah, i noticed my mileage is a little lower than usual
