Default 93 Civic, straight piping the converter

93 Civic EX 1.6

Well the long pipe between the converter and muffler took a sh*t on me so I bought a new one. Then found out that the mounting for the converter was trashed. Local store had a generic one on hand for $80, could order a direct bolt in for $160. In the town over from me they could have one tomorrow morning for $150. Guy at the first store recommended I go to ebay for a good price on one. Came across a straight pipe that bolts in place for $40!

The only O2 is before the converter so I think i'm all in the clear. Hell yeah! Any thoughts on this besides the usual "oh no! that's illegal!"?

You're somehow entitled to not spend the money for a real converter, even though everyone in the world is going to have to breathe your excessive pollution?

That's my opinion on it, it has nothing to do with the government though they happen to be on my side in this case.

Your view changes a lot when you're a **** broke person like me..

And we are driving Honda civics which don't pollute much anyway, not big diesel trucks that pollute way more.
