Question '94 Civic IAT sensor

Hey all,
I have a '94 Civic DX (D15B7) motor. I'm installing a UTP performance chip that connects into the IAT wiring. Trouble is, I'm not sure where it's at. I think it's on the backside of the intake manifold, small cylinder with a 2 wire plug-in on the bottom. The 2 wires are: blue w/ yellow stripe and white w/ black stripe. Can anyone verify this or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your time.

A picture would be awsome!!!

i wouldnt suggest installing that chip, it doesnt do anything positive for you, and is a waste of money,

+1. Those "chips" are worthless.

Default Thanx

Thanks for the info. I checked this out before buying it and the seller seemed very reputable so I figured it could help. But I rely more from people that know than from an add. I'll take your advice and send it back. Any cheap garage ways to help that poor motor find a little kick?

put a vtec head on it from any 92-95 civic ex or si (d16z6) and get a p28 ecu from the same range i mentioned. then run 2 wires to the ecu from the vtec solnoid. (this is the best thing to do)

you can put an aftermarket intake and exhaust
you can put a cam in it.
guessing you have a 5 speed you can put a lite weight flywheel and get a 92-95 civic ex/si trans.

Default Thanx again. Here's something else.

Thanks again for the advice. I don't have a manual tranny. It's just a 4 speed auto. The motor is all stock except for a cold air (not true)/ram air intake with K&N filter and bigger muffler. Same 1 3/4" exhaust though.

I do have one other problem with the car. Most of the time my speedo is flat and the whole gauge doesn't register. About 30% of the time it works just fine. Here's the kicker. It only happens every so often but when the engines idling, either in park or at a red light, the speedo freaks out and the needle flips from 0 to 100 irractically. I've replaced the speed control sensor with no solution. It seems like an electrical connection/spike somewhere. I've checked the connections and wiring and not sure what else to do. Any ideas?

Check that the pins in the speed sensor plug are not broken or corroded. Generally though if you don't have the proper signal from the speed sensor, the CEL will come on and the automatic transmission won't shift into overdrive when it should. If those are still working, it suggests the sensor is OK but the speedometer is not responding to the signal properly.

Does the odometer keep rolling up miles properly when the car is moving even though the speed needle is at zero? If so the problem is definitely the speedometer head itself.

Default Speedo

When the needle goes, or stays, flat the entire guage is dead. Nothing on the trip or odometer.

The plug looks clean inside and wires are tight but I'll swap it out and see how that helps.
