95 civic 5 speed swap, now grinds

ok its a 95 civic vtech 2 door. i pulled out a bad atx and swapped in a 5speed. all is good ....but when it idles with the trans in neutral and the clutch out it sounds like the flywheel is rubbing a bolt. if i push the clutch in the noise goes away. now if im coasting down a hill the noise stays. i was told the trans was good when i bought it. i just put to pints of synchro mesh fluid in it.

any help would be great thanks.....

Like a grinding type noise, right?? And you say if the clutch is pushed in, the noise goes away? Most likely the throw out bearing.

but if the car is moving and the clutch is in it makes the same noise.

It may be a bad input shaft bearing in the transmission.

im guessing the trans is done then. no way to replace it with out ..... damn there was a bit of shaft play. i thought it wasnt bad tho....

any other ideas. i found anouther trans for $60. i keep thinking the starter could be hitting... is there a spacer that goes between the trans and the block?? no no that would make noise when the motor was spinning the flywheel... i guess the only thing it could be is in the trans....

sorry, you're completely backwards...

if the grinding noise goes away when you push the clutch in, it is NOT the throwout bearing and is most likely bearings in the transmission...

if the noise STARTS when you push in the clutch, then it is the throwout bearing....

the throwout bearing is only "working" with the clutch pressed down
