On the earlier Honda's the main relay causes problems. It controls both the fuel pump & ECM. If it has cold solder joints as is the most common problem when they get hot you have an open circuit.

You must do these tests after it has stalled during the time that it will not start.

First turn the key on but don't crank, and watch the CEL. Should come on then go out. During the time it is on, the fuel pump should run.

If that's OK, another common problem is for the ICM in the distributor to become intermittent, it stops working after it warms up. There will be no spark when it won't start then. Pull one of the spark plug wires out and put a spare plug in it. Hold the plug against the engine and crank, watch if the plug sparks.
