I have a 95 honda civic with the d15b8 motor. I just replaced the thermostat but did not bleed my system just added coolant when I was done. But my civic still over heats. When I just let it idle it seems to stay at normal temp but when I give it gas temp rises. Seems like my water pump is fine cause water is flowing through all hoses. Head gasket was just replaced. Could not bleeding the system be the prob or could it be something else ne ideas please let me know. Thanks

 

Bleeding the cooling system:
(procedure may take 20-30 minutes)

1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):

 

Ok thank you. So is that wat it most likely is. From not bleeding the system

 

It isn't specific in the instructions, but be sure to start the procedure with the engine cold.

After doing it, keep checking the radiator (not just the reservoir) before every trip while the engine is cold. If you keep losing fluid from the radiator something else is wrong.

 

It's the first thing to do before considering other potential problems.

 

So I bled the system and tOok the car for a ride. I went up to the store. Temps stayed normal. On my way home it was fine till I got in to it a lil bit and my temp started rising. I let the car sit for awhile and water was normal. Does that give you any ideas. Temp will go down if I let of gas and drift!!

 

When the temp starts to rise on the gauge, check whether the lower radiator is hot or just warm or cool. If the hose is not hot, the radiator may be clogged.

Don't use water in the cooling system. It will destroy the engine. Use premixed 50:50 coolant.

 

Ok ill do that. Is there ne way to unclog it if it is. By the way I appreciate you helping me with this. I'm new to forums.
